Sony and Palm Working on next Palm OS

Mon Nov 15, 1999 - 8:00 AM EST - By James Hromadka

Sony and Palm Computing today announced that they are collaborating to make the Palm operating system (OS) more powerful by offering expanded audio-visual functionality

Under the terms of their agreement, Sony will license the Palm OS and Palm Computing will add support to the Palm OS for Sony's Memory Stick storage and data exchange technology. Perhaps this is 3COM's response to the springboard.

Sony will inplement the Palm OS into a new line of electronic devices that includes handhelds and also wireless-enabled consumer electronics products. Palm will add support for Memory Stick and other Sony AV technologies.

Read the press release or this article for more information. What will this mean for Handspring? discuss it on the UBB.

If Sony uses the Palm OS for the PS2, I may have to rethink my Nintendo loyalty .
