Cordless phone module

Mon Sep 25, 2000 - 8:13 AM EDT - By James Hromadka

Arkon Networks announced today its Parafone™ Cordless Telephone Springboard module for the Handspring Visor. From the press release:
The Parafone is the first cordless telephone module designed for Handspring's Springboard expansion platform. The Parafone consists of a Springboard module and a base unit. By snapping the Parafone module into the Springboard slot on the back of the Visor, the Parafone enables telephony calls over any public switched telephone network. In addition, the Parafone provides customers with an intuitive interface that allows access to advanced services such as caller ID, conference calling and call tracking. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the ability of the Parafone to take advantage of the Visor address book, giving direct access to all previously inserted contacts.
The Parafone is a 900MHz phone with features like call waiting, 50-entry speed dial, 1000-number call history, Address Book access, conference calling, and headset support. See the Arkon Networks website for some photos of the Parafone. Discuss this news item here.
