According to NPD Intelect's July numbers for PDA retail sales, Palm has grabbed back some of the marketshare that Handspring has taken from it this year.

August saw the introduction of the Palm m100 and also had the Compaq iPaq Pocket PC performing well. One analyst commented, "a surge in market share generally follows the release of a new product, but the real test will be in a couple months when the marketing hype wears off." See this ZDNet article for more comments.

The real test will come in the fourth quarter during the holiday season. Some handhelds see nearly half their sales for the year during this time. Click here to discuss this news item.
