G24 Internet Communicator System

Mon Jan 8, 2001 - 9:50 AM EST - By Marcus Adolfsson

Arkon Networks now has more information on the G24 Internet Communicator System, a integrated wireless telephony and data solution for the Visor, which we first wrote about in September.

The G24 system, with its Springboard expansion modules, is designed to work with an existing broadband Internet connection to provide simultaneous wireless Internet (32kbps data rate on the Visor) and voice telephony for up to 4 users. The system uses 2.4 GHz Digital Spread Spectrum technology to ensure crystal clear voice and interference-free data transmission.

The G24 Internet Communicator Springboard module integrates wireless telephony and Internet access with the PIM (personal information management) marvel of the Handspring Visor.

With Handspring's revolutionary Springboard technology, once the G24 module is inserted into the expansion slot the preloaded software automatically loads on the Visor. Likewise, once the G24 module is removed from the Visor, all G24 user interfaces are automatically de-installed, allowing this product to be truly plug and play. The telephone user interface is very similar to the VisorPhone.

Availability date and price is unknown at this time.
