A good module, when its limits are understood
With the caveat that the module is best for storing applications and not data that needs to be modified, I heartily recommend the module. I've noticed a few complaints about the module causing 'crashes'. In 6 months I haven't encountered any, other than with one document reader which doesn't like documents stored in the flash module. A different document reader handles documents stored in the module fine.

need extra memory? A good solution
I bought the Visor (non-deluxe) and I needed extra memory (boy am I kicking myself now for not buying the Deluxe) The flash memory has been great. Very simple to use. My only complaint is the compatibility problem with software that utilise a database. If this was fixed, I’m sure more would buy this accesory.

A FATAL ERROR NIGHTMARE
I've gone through FOUR 8mb modules already. Even going through the supposed updates from Handspring - still, they could not send me a competant module. I even went through a dispute with HS because they have idiots there who don't know how to track whether or not customers return defective products. They argued that they never received one of the defective 8MB modules and that I was going to be charged within 10 days if I failed to return the product - when in fact I did send it - overnight, at my expense! After a few days of phone calls and EXTENSIVE times being on hold... they finally traced everything and cleared it up. Just another example of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE that Handspring offers to their buyers. One or two incidents? No, I don't think so. Finally, I went to Staples and purchased my fourth one last week (6-13-00). And I've already experienced at least 15 Fatal Errors with this module, and also one of those "MemMgr...Line4127...RESET." messages. From what I've read, the 8MB does not work well a lot of third party software. In that case, maybe Handspring should have kept this idea on the "Drawingboard" a bit longer. Too many bugs. It's easier to just say, "oh well, maybe you need to delete some programs...ect, ect...". A good product should work. It's that simple. Eighty bucks for this? Not worth the hassle. Hopefully, Handpsring will develop better software/hardware and not simply crank something out in a rush just to appeal the masses. That seems to be a common trend. I do hope that they tighten up all of these loose bolts that seem to be plaguing these modules in MOST cases. Look at the User Opinions Percentages on this site, and see the proof in the pudding.

Great memory expansion, only if ...
I really enjoy having the extra memroy on my Visor Deluxe. But, I wish I could transfer my larger books to the module! I can't run them with out the software crashing. I'm assuming this is due to the module being Flash memory. If Handspring could make it possible to store the pdb files on the module, this would be a GREAT addition. I still find it useful, just not as useful as I had hoped!

Very few things work with it
I had hoped to use the module to store large doc files and similar data-heavy stuff, but so far I have found almost nothing that can be used from the module without crashing. A few things like arcade-style games seem to work, but my suspicion is that others, like me, want to use this thing for large amounts of data, rather than large numbers of trivial little programs. I am sorely vexed.

Worth Having
I just got this springboard for christmas, and it had some problems reading some docs off of it, with my doc reader on my inturnal memory but now I think I have it figured out, and it frees up alot of memory to keep my books and big apps on it. Worth having.

It is nice
It would be better, if everything was compatible with it.

Needs applications that work on it
In my opinion, the module doesn't have much going for it yet. There are very few applications that support large static databases that will run on the flash module. I have tried several doc readers and only the reader itself can be installed externally. The same holds true for AvantGo. Here is a great application that seems ideal for the 8MB module. The problem is that AvantGo won't let you install anything on the flash module and still work. Don't get me wrong, when there are more applications that work better on the 8MB module, it will be fantastic but unfortunately that time is somewhere in the future.

What could be simpler!
Capacity increased elegantly.
