Better than the IIIc, but not there yet
Bought a Prism for a VP in our company and used it for a few hours before giving it to him. I really don't care for the display. I think it might give me a headache if looking at it under flourescent lighting for any length of time. Other nit-picks. 1) it's a bit thicker than my visor and therefore wont fit in visor credit card wallet b/c the pins did not line up. It did appear to be fine for my stowaway keyboard though. 2) Purple case only. Yes, it looks slick, but there are no other choices. Also, why purple with a black cover?? Don't get me wrong - i'm not anti-progress or color blind. One day I will see the color PDA that I *must* buy. Just not now.

Go Prism
This is the way to go, if the palm platform is to continue it will have to adapt. The Visor Prism is the proof that Palm platforms can adapt and remain true to the original idea: simplicity, reliability and flexibility. Once you have seen and used the color sceen on the Prism you will never look at a greyscale screen the same way again.

Color is a Beautiful Thing
This device is fantastic. I've been a Palm user since 5/97 and this is the best upgrade to date. The color is sharp and almost intoxicating! I hate the color of the case but I can live with that little irritant. It is pricy but worth it! I highly recommend the 8MB Module, and the travel charger. I as a power user, I only got 8-10 days off of 2 AAA batteries with my Palmpilots so charging is a daily requirement with the Prism. Just plug it in next to the cell phone.

I am a student and I bought my Visor Delux and GoType Keyboard late August 2000. Mid October ( roughly 45 days ) later Boom, the prisim and platimum. I too called/e-mailed and begged for an upgrade. No dice I was after their 30 day period and I was OUT OF LUCK. If it were not such a good product I would dump it. Before I upgrade to anything or buy any other product I will make sure that the company supports their customers and does not stick it to students like that. They knew in August that this was comming and additional 30 day grace period would not have killed them! Looks nice, reviews nice, my delux is great but company is not NICE!

Handspring's Grandslam.
Some say that the PalmOS was not ever meant to be color, and that it is a virtue to keep things simple in the OS. I was one of those people...Until I saw the Prism in person. Then I bought one to replace my aging Palm Personal w/ the IR expansion card. It was worth every cent. The display is worth it even if you are only using B&W apps. The whole design of the Prism is fantastic. Great colors all around!!! I love it!

Color evolution, if not revolution
The Prism is a good step forward for color PalmOS devices. It's not quite the end-all that the previous reviewer seems to believe, but it's enough to get me to sell my IIIc and buy it. It *does* need more support for 65K color apps and code optimized for the faster 33MHz VZ CPU and it IS overpriced by about $50, but if you can get past that (and its thickness), you've got a winner. The only thing is, it's firmly in iPAQ price territory. It's by no means as feature-ridden as the PocketPC's, nor can its 160x160 screen match the 240x320 displays on the Windows devices... Its Springboard also doesn't have the heavy support of CompactFlash. But it's a Palm device, very well supported and definitely the most powerful device to run the OS.

Obviously the best color pda on the market right now, no contest!
Visor Prism...cool colored plastic with much better form, fits better in the hand(no pun...). 16 bit color just great especially with Zap2016 and I'm not too worried that there aren't, quote "enough apps" yet(yet being the operative word). And then there's the expansion slot, need I say more. The alternative......an esthetically challenged drab, dark gray, awkard wide body plastic with 8-bit color and no expansion slot. Yes, there IS a reason for the lower price. Palm IIIc may be the more inexpensive buy. But the Prism is the smarter buy.

Visorgasm!
Hee hee.. C'mon! c'mon!.. charge faster!.. charge faster! (just bought my own.) Go with this new unit. As others have said it's worth a little extra for better screen clarity (no more backlight).. forget the AAA batterie$.. and colour.. sweet colour... not to mention speed and the nice new OS.. The color of the model is cool too!
