Datebk4 by Pimlico Software

>> Read Review (Rating 5/5) <<

DateBk4 brings the power of a desktop PIM to your Palm. When was the last time that you missed buying a birthday present because there was no ADVANCE warning of an event? Or missed a task because your tasks were not integrated with your calendar? Or spent more than two taps inserting a commonly used event for which DateBk4 has a built-in template? Or needed to look at a week-at-a-glance with the TEXT listed of your appointments? Or wanted to use color on your new M505/Prism/Clie to emphasize important events? Or wanted to keep your spouse's or co-worker's calendar on your palm - but visibly separate from your own? Or have DateBk4 time-zone aware so that alarms and events are properly keyed to the correct timezone? Or wanted to recover an event that you accidentally just deleted? Or link an event or ToDo to an addressbook entry and automatically log to it? Or put an alarm on a ToDo? Or handle events that span midnight? Or.....? DateBk4 handles all of these tasks and more. No wonder it is one of the most popular Palm programs ever written! A light version of DateBk3 (DateBK4's predecessor) is now even built into every Handspring Visor under the name DateBook+.

Well worth the money
iginally my sister purchased DateBook4 because her IBM Thinkpad didn't have the week view (3rd box from left) that my Datebook+ had. I liked it saw so much I bought it! Being able to link the To do's, address book and memos make my life a lot easier.

Great datebook app, but worth the money?
DateBook4 is a great datebook application. I bought it a while ago for the $24 something dollar fee. I usually do not like to pay more than $20 dollars for any Palm OS app, but I don't regret spending the money on this one. It keeps me amazingly organized, has a bit of a complex interface but that's because of how powerful this app is. If you are looking for a good datebook app, one that is truly comprehensive, this is the one.

Great for power-users!
Datebk4 is definately for the person who needs more 'umph' than Datebk+ offers, but if you are one of these people, it is well worth it. You pretty much have to read the manual to get the full effect (anyone interested in writing a 'Datebk4 for dummies" edition?). I got great service via E-mail from Pimlico, and had no problems with it crashing my VDX.

My primary application
Does everything I want in a scheduler/datebook/appointment book. It's the app that makes my Visor truly useful. It IS complicated -- first time I've spent time reading the manual of a program in quite some time -- but if you don't need all this power, Datebk3 is still available and supported. A good rule of thumb is to use Datebook+ on your Visor, and then step up to Datebk3 and 4 incrementally, seeing how much you like each app. And only $25!! I'd pay twice that much EASILY for a product that does this much and works this well!!!

A Lifetime Lasting DateBook
Richly featured and well designed. The simplest things in life are the better ones, and I find Datebk4 very simple and intuitive to use.

Gotta have it, duh!
Yeah, it's essential and packed with features...just go get it!

Thumbs Down

Nice but too complex
This program is feature-rich but also feature-heavy. The interface changes between DateBk3 and DateBk4 were excessive, and not necessarily worth the upgrade. For other reviewers who were concerned with stability, I've never had a problem with DateBk4. For me, Action Names has a better interface and is far simpler to use.
