Updated: SpringPort Wireless shipping

Wed May 16, 2001 - 3:31 PM EDT - By Marcus Adolfsson

Update
Another reader, German Ospina, today sent us word that he has recevied the module.

It comes with with Blazer 1.1, it's own module configuration software(Springport), MultiMail application and File Mover, with the Module having 100k free.

The module itself is very light (compared to the visorphone), and supports Peer-to-Peer networking.

However, German reports some problems:

"I can't get it to connect to Lucent's access point, since the Lucent requires a "passphrase" that is 13 Hex characters long (64bit). The Xircom device supports 40bit and 128 bit encryption."

Discuss any problems and solutions you have with the SpringPort Wireless here.

VisorCentral reader Dean Blackketter yesterday received confirmation from Xircom that his SpringPort Wireless Ethernet Module has shipped - somewhat earlier than previously announced expected ship date of May 21.

The module, which has been available for pre-order since May 7th, was first announced in late April 2000.
