What the MS trial means to Handspring

Wed May 10, 2000 - 1:45 PM EDT - By James Hromadka

This MSNBC article has some more info on the MS Antitrust trial and how both sides are using Palm as an example to prove their case.

On the one hand, Microsoft has done little more than scratch the surface of Palm's marketshare of the PDA market. However, Handspring CEO Donna Dubinsky feels that Microsoft's Windows CE has an unfair advantage because the WinCE group could get advance information on Outlook changes. Microsoft denies this, but Handspring officials are more concerned about the possibility of it happening. "They have the potential to be malicious about it, but so far we don't have evidence of it," said Jeff Hawkins, Handspring CPO.

The DOJ is concerned about an email that Bill Gates sent in July 1999 that reportedly asks that Microsoft software be redesigned to hurt its PDA competitors.

This trial is starting to get interesting. Click here for the full article.
