InnoGear Comdex Interview

Last Updated Fri Nov 17, 2000 - 7:50 PM EST - By James Hromadka

Other InnoDrives

Hromadka: Going back to the InnoDrive for a moment, from the products we've seen announced, we have an InnoDrive/MS and an InnoDrive/MMC. Are there any plans for other InnoDrives based on compact flash or any other types of external memory technologies?

Eisenbach: The compact flash technology is very similar to what we implemented to make the InnoDrive/MS work so we have the technology; it's not right now on our product list. It might be added in the future, but right now, once again, with the limited resources we have we're focusing on key products. So the technology is there so we could do it, if there's enough demand we might do it, but right now it's not planned.

Hromadka: What are the prices for memory sticks right now?

Eisenbach: I think - this is from my Internet browsing experience - that a 64MB memory stick retails for about $79, but what I do know is that Sony recently opened up their memory stick policy. They're teaming up with a lot of big manufacturers, so you'll see a lot of memory sticks soon that will only say memory stick on them - no longer Sony. I'm sure that will drive down the price too. The situation on that seems better than on the MMC module.
