OS X Desktop 4.0 released

Get it now!

Palm released today the final version of Palm Desktop software 4.0 for Mac OS X. The English version is now available, while Japanese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish are still in beta. Now that the software is out of beta, we should start seeing more Mac OS X conduits released.

Palm's website is a little slow, but I still was able to get the 10.0 MB file at a quick clip over DSL. I will update this article if there is anything substantially different in the final version over the last beta.

Update: Handspring does not recommend installing the software, although it worked fine for me. The only thing I noticed was that HotSync kept trying to install PalmOS 3.5.3. One of our readers reported that you can go into /Applications/Palm/PalmOS Upgrades and delete the folder for 3.5.3.

Happy syncing!
