Time Digital has a long and interesting article for those deciding whether to make the jump to buying a handheld. The article also gives a brief history of the current PDAs. Here's a snippet from the article that I found to show how popular the Visor is becoming:

The Visor sold impressively after it was introduced last spring, seizing nearly a fifth of the market to take second place and whittling Palm’s share from about 80% of the market to 67%, according to NPD Intelect, a market-research firm.
